The New York Knicks are coming into the 2014-15 season with high expectations after signing back Carmelo Anthony and now Phil Jackson could look at making some trades, as names like Iman Shumpert, Amar'e Stoudemire, Andrea Bargnani, JR Smith and Pablo Prigioni have all been mentioned at some point this summer and that could set up the team for free agency in 2015 after recently signing Langston Galloway and Travis Wear.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Knicks have looked into the possibility of trading Shumpert and Smith this summer and they also are planning on working deals with Stoudemire and Bargnani around the deadline. The latter two deals are not certain to happen, but Jackson will try and get something done and that could work with Stoudemire since he has an expiring deal. Even if the Knicks don't make a major trade, they are likely to do something, as they have a bit of a backup at the guard position and could move Pablo Prigioni.

PBT reports that the team has added Langston Galloway and forward Travis Wear this offseason and the contracts are likely partially or not guaranteed. The Knicks have 15 players on the roster and they have already put together some better talent than last season and they have the chance to make the playoffs. The team added Galloway, who has a solid three point shot and he could be a very solid option off the bench if he can make it. Wear could give the team some solid depth on the bench and he has size at forward.

The Knicks have Carmelo back and they have added Jose Calderon as well as Shane Larkin and Samuel Dalembert and that should give the team a strong bench. Jackson traded Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton and that helped the team since those two were not playing up to their potential and that is one of the main reasons why the team faltered last season. The Knicks have the chance to build and they could challenge the Cavs and Bulls in the next couple years, bit not yet.

The Knicks brought back Anthony on a five year contract and they also now have a new point guard in Jose Calderon after Jackson traded Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to the Mavericks. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Knicks may look at trading Stoudemire at some point this season if they can, as he has a massive deal but it's expiring after this year and that could make it more attractive to teams. The Knicks have also been mentioned in connection with trades for their guards, as they have a number of players on the roster and it could cause a logjam for head coach Derek Fisher at the position.
