The MLB standings heading into the 2014 playoffs in the AL and NL has a number of teams in the mix for the division titles and wild card spots, as the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Angels, LA Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, Oakland A's, Seattle Mariners and Pittsburgh Pirates are in contention heading into September.

The AL East is basically done and that has the Orioles in first place by a wide margin over the Yankees and the Blue Jays. The AL Central is interesting and has the Tigers chasing the Royals in first place, while the Indians are hanging around. The west has the Angels now in first place after they moved past the Oakland Athletics, while the Mariners are way out but in the wild card race.

The NL East has Washington leading by a wide margin, while the St. Louis Cardinals are now in first place in the central after overtaking the Brewers, who have been leading most of the season. The Giants and Dodgers are battling in the AL West with Los Angeles leading the way.

The American League wild card has the Oakland Athletics and Detroit Tigers in the two spots, while the Mariners are leading the Yankees and the Blue Jays as well as the Indians. The National League wild card has the Giants and Brewers in, while the Pirates are also chasing the last spot
