The Houston Rockets have been mentioned as a target for the Rajon Rondo trade with the Boston Celtics and while the team has denied any deal is in the works, adding the point guard would create a new Big 3 with James Harden and Dwight Howard and that would be a major move in the western conference and comes after the Rockets lost Chandler Parsons and added Jason Terry in a trade this summer.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Kings and Rockets have agreed on a deal for Jason Terry and that is a smart move for Houston, as they needed a backup option at point guard. The team traded away Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers and they now have Patrick Beverley, but they needed more on the roster at the position and now they have a solid veteran. The Kings have been looking to make deals this offseason and they have already made a trade with the NY Knicks for Travis Outlaw and Jeremy Tyler.

Terry was previously traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Kings at the deadline and he never suited up for the team after moving in the Marcus Thornton deal and now it looks like he is on his way to Houston. The report says that the Rockets will get two second-round draft picks out of the deal and will give Alonzo Gee to the Kings. The team now has some solid options off the bench for Beverley and they also have a veteran guard that can shoot from long range.

Terry is recovering from a left knee injury and he never played for the Kings after being traded and now he could be an impact player in Houston. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Celtics are not currently looking to trade Rondo, but that could change this season depending on how things play out. Rondo is into Kevin Love territory and he will likely be moved if he doesn't sign an extension with the Celtics.

Reports say that Rondo and the Celtics are fine starting the season that way, as Rondo wants to see where this team is at, while Boston wants to see if Rondo can stay healthy after coming back from ACL surgery. Last year Rondo played in 30 games and averaged close to a double-double and now he has the chance to come back and see how the season plays out. Rondo is one of the best point guards in the NBA and he could get moved at the deadline.

The Rockets have long coveted Rondo and they could look at a deal, while the Celtics have Marcus Smart and he could step in once Rondo is moved, if he gets traded. Smart was a lottery pick and the Celtics are very high on him coming out of Oklahoma State. Smart would have been a top three pick if he had come out a season earlier and now he could end up as the man with the Celtics if Rondo gets moved.

The Celtics are not expected to be good this season and that could lead to Rondo getting moved. The deadline should be the time when things heat up and a number of teams could be interested in making a trade if it gets that far.
