The Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers are playing at Heinz Field for their last preseason game and the NFL matchup is on Week 4 of the schedule and starts up at 7:30 pm ET as Cam Newton and Ben Roethlisberger face off and the matchup is streaming live online from NFL.com as these two teams prepare to open the season in Week 1 next Sunday.
Newton is coming into the season with a rib injury and he says that he will be fine and that is massive for the Panthers, as he is their leader and best player. Last season Newton was fantastic and the defense was amazing and that brought the team back to the playoffs. The Steelers missed the playoffs last season and they are looking to get back into the postseason and this could be a major turning point year for Mike Tomlin.
The Panthers had a strong defense last season and Newton is an x factor and he has the chance to lead his team back to the playoffs after getting there last season. The Panthers pen with a division game against the Buccaneers and then the team plays at home against the Lions and the Steelers, who they will see tonight. That starts a stretch of three games in four weeks on the road and that includes the Ravens, Bengals and Packers, while the Chicago Bears are the home game.
The next stretch doesn't get any easier, as they have the Packers followed by the Seattle Seahawks at home and that obviously is very tough. The team has the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night football and the Atlanta Falcons and that is leading into the bye week. After the bye the Panthers play against the Vikings and the Saints on the road and then the team plays against the Bucs and the Browns at home before ending the season on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
