The Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills are playing on the Week 4 NFL preseason schedule and the game from Ralph Wilson Stadium starts up at 7 pm ET and has EJ Manuel looking to get on track with hot rookie Sammy Watkins, while the Lions are looking to start the season on a high note with some momentum after missing the playoffs and they feel that 2014 can be a bounce back year.

The Bills made a huge move and traded their next draft to get Watkins and now they need Manuel to shape up and he has been struggling in the preseason. The Lions need to shape up on defense, as the Lions have been fantastic on offense with Matthew Stafford. The team has Calvin Johnson already and they added Eric Ebron and Golden Tate in the offseason to join Reggie Bush on that side of the ball.

The Lions come into the game after winning over the Jaguars in the preseason and they have some areas where they can improve. The offense was very good last season especially through the air with Stafford and Calvin Johnson and now they have even more weapons in the mix. The defense was excellent against the run last season, but the secondary was terrible and now they are trying to bounce back after a tough season.

The team has two wins in the preseason and after playing against Buffalo they open the year at home with the NY Giants on Monday night football. The game is huge for both teams as they each want to get off to a good start, while the Packers and Jets are next and then the team plays against Buffalo in the regular season. The next stretch is tough with two of three games on the road and that includes the Vikings, Saints and Falcons on the slate.

The second half of the schedule is very tough and they end the season with three straight division games and the final two are on the road after playing the Vikings, as they have the Bears and the Packers. The team has the Bears twice in the second half and the first will be on Thanksgiving, while the team also has road trips to Arizona and New England and those will be tough as well.

The Lions know they can be a better team and they now have a new head coach to get it done. The Bills put a lot in Sammy Watkins and now they need Manuel to step up. He has not been great in the preseason, but the team has weapons with Mike Wallace and Robert Woods and the rushing game was strong last year. CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson are a great tandem and that should really help the offense and Manuel get going and that could be big for the Bills if they want to make the playoffs.
