Felix Hernandez #34 of the Seattle Mariners pitches in the second inning of the game against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on August 16, 2014 in Detroit, Michigan. The Tigers defeated the Mariners 4-2. "

The Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox are playing live on the MLB schedule on Friday from Fenway Park and Felix Hernandez will be on the mound and he will be up against Joe Kelly and the game starts at 7:10 pm ET and is streaming live from MLB.com as the King tries to keep his team in the Wild Card race in the AL and now every game is important as August moves into September for the M's.

The Mariners are in playoff contention for the first time in a decade and now they have their future Hall of Fame pitcher on the mound trying to get it done. Felix snapped his streak of 16 starts with seven innings and two runs or less, but he said he will start a new streak and that starts now. Felix comes in with a sub 2.00 Era this season and that has been fantastic and right now it's his Cy Young to lose.

The Mariners have made up ground in the division race and now they need to start winning again, as the Detroit Tigers are in the second wild card and they are the team right in the middle. Everyone else is four games back and if they don't snap from this mini slump, they could be out of it before the weekend is over. The team has played so well since the trading deadline that it would be a shame for the fans to see it slip away, especially after not making the playoffs since back in 2001.

Hernandez is ready to go and he has been one of the main reasons why the Mariners are in this position. Boston has lost five in a row and the Mariners have not won in Fenway for a couple years and that means the King has to find a way to get it done. Logan Morrison has some great numbers against the Sox and the team needs everyone to step up and this is a must win game fi the Mariners have any chance of making the playoffs.

The Mariners have now lost three of five games after a great stretch and that means they have to get out of this, as they are a few games up on the teams chasing them. The team now is in a battle for the second wild card and they simply just have to win games. Dustin Ackley is back in the lineup and he has been hot, while Kyle Seager has been hasty over his 13 game hitting streak against Boston, hitting over .460 in that time and if he can keep that up, the Mariners can win on Friday night.
