The MLB standings for the 2014 season has the division leaders and wild card races getting close as October rolls in and now the Oakland Athletics and LA Angels are close, while the Kansas City Royals are leading the Tigers and now the Seattle Mariners are leading the wild card in the AL and in the NL it's the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants.

The AL East has the Orioles leading by a wide margin, while the AL West is now close again with the Athletics and Angels. The AL Central has the Royals leading, while the Nationals are first in the NL East, while the Brewers and Dodgers are leading the other divisions.

The AL playoff race is really starting to heat up, as the Mariners now are a half game ahead of the Tigers for the second spot, while the Angels are in the first spot. The Tigers are a half game back after losing two of three against Seattle and are now ahead of the Yankees, who are 3.5 games back in the standings. The Mariners have not been in this position at 11 games over in years and now they are trying to hold off some other teams in the LA and it'll be a dogfight.

The NL wild card has the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals, while the Atlanta Braves and Pirates are next in the standings. The Miami Marlins are hanging in there and they are alive in the NL, while the AL has the Blue Jays and Indians also hanging on.
