Paul George #29 of the 2014 USA Basketball Men's National Team is tended to as he lies on the court after badly injuring his leg defending a play during a USA Basketball showcase at the Thomas & Mack Center on August 1, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. "

Paul George suffered a gruesome right leg or ankle injury on Friday night in the USA Basketball scrimmage and now the Indiana Pacers star may not be the same player ever again and fortunately he had successful surgery on Friday night and while he should miss the season, he also should be able to recover from the fracture of his leg after smashing into the support of the net at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

George likely will have a long recovery, as he snapped his leg against the backboard support and his leg literally snapped to a right angle and this could be a massive injury and the players on the court were all visibly shaken and the game was called in the fourth quarter.

George suffered the scary injury trying to defend in transition and it left players to watch in horror as he was brought off the court on a stretcher. Derrick Rose and Kyrie Irving were very upset at what happened and now George could be out for a long time. Kevin Love sat out to avoid an injury and clearly he made the right call and now George is at risk of missing this entire season and he could be out for a long time and his career may have taken a new trajectory.

George just signed a five year max extension that was worth over $90 million and luckily he signed that deal and now the Pacers are hoping to get him back healthy eventually. George is a budding superstar and is moving into the prime of his career and now he may not be able to come back soon. This is like losing LeBron for the Pacers, meaning that he is their best player and now he looks like he will be out at least for a season and probably more. George is a fantastic talent and he is the franchise player for the team.

George was hustling on the play and he was expected to be a starter for the Team USA and he was on his way to being one of the top players in the league. George is getting close to elite status and he has elite talent and now he could be out for a long time. This was like the Kevin Ware injury from over a year ago and while George is signed long term, that gives him no comfort now. George had a scary injury in the usually jovial scrimmage and he now is in question moving forward for his career and USA can't easily replace him.
