Greg Monroe's future remains up in the air. At this point, he is the best available free agent on the market outside of Eric Bledsoe and yet the Detroit Pistons can simply not figure out what to do with him. Monroe did not function well with Josh Smith and Andre Drummond last season and since a trade of the forward has failed to develop, it is Monroe that must go. However, who is willing to meet the demands of the Pistons for the center?

Monroe is a free agent right now and Detroit will have every opportunity to match an offer placed on the center, something they may or may not do. However, no one has placed an offer on him yet, waiting to see if his price tag drops first. Fansided.com suggests the Boston Celtics might be the best landing spot for Monroe should their trade requests for Kevin Love die out.

The Celtics have the assets to get Monroe. Team president Danny Ainge has been stockpiling players and can enter the market at any time. Right now, they are on the losing end of a trade for Love meaning their efforts will have been wasted this offseason if they do not try and get someone. Monroe would be the best option. The value of having a young big man in the league is high and at 24, Monroe has established himself as that. With Rajon Rondo entering the final year of his contract, getting the center would be an excellent way to kickstart the rebuilding process should the point guard leave. The Celtics already have three big men including Jared Sullinger, but Monroe might be the better option to build on.

Interest around Monroe has been light so if Boston is interested, they will not have much competition to acquire him. The Atlanta Hawks are denying that they have any intentions of trading Paul Millsap for Monroe. Steve Kyler of BasketballInsiders.com is reporting that the Hawks are not interested in giving Monroe the contract that he is currently demanding from Detroit. The New York Knicks have also shown some interest in hopes of getting rid of either Amar'e Stoudemire or Andrea Bargnani, but again they are not interested in meeting Monroe's contract demands.

At this point, Monroe will likely remain on the Pistons roster and sign and one-year deal before hitting free agency next offseason. He is simply commanding too much money at this point for any team to make a jump on.
