The Philadelphia Phillies and NY Mets are playing live on the MLB schedule in the afternoon on Wednesday and the matchup from Citi Field has Zach Wheeler pitching against Kyle Kendrick and the game starts up at 12:10 pm ET for the NL East matchup as New York tries to stay above water in the playoff race, as they are close to falling out.

The Mets have been up and down this season, but the Phillies have been simply terrible and now these two teams will finish off a series in New York heading into the weekend. Wheeler is looking to get back on track, as he has been very inconsistent this season and now Jacob deGrom looks like the big man of the rotation until Matt Harvey returns. The Mets are coming into the game after getting shutout and they also had to deal with a grand slam from Chase Utley in the game and now they are trying to bounce back, as the Phillies have won four of the last six games and for once are hitting this season.

The Mets have hope on the horizon with all the pitching they have, but the team overall on offense is horrible and they need a bat badly. The team is on the fringe of the NL wild card race and the division race and while fans are hopeful, there's no chance they are making the playoffs this season. Wheeler comes in after getting shelled earlier in the month, but he has bounced back and is now 2-0 in his last five starts and he is looking to have another good one against the Phillies.

Grady Sizemore is coming in and playing well to start for the Phillies and now he will try and keep that going, while David Wright comes in with strong numbers against Kendrick. The Mets come in ranked 22nd in the league in runs and 28th in batting average and they are not hitting at all this season. The team lost to Cole Hamels and he is looking strong heading into the trade deadline and now the Mets need to find a way to get back on the winning side of things and they are about to play a series at home against the Giants on Friday.

The pitching has been solid and they are ranked 10th in ERA and fifth in quality starts and are also in the top 10 in BAA. The team is likely to stay put at the trading deadline and they may move Bartolo Colon after signing him this offseason. Fans are hoping for a deal, but they likely will need to keep hoping, as the team is banking on their young stars and Harvey in the future, but right now is not the time for major moves this season.
