The Portland Timbers and Montreal Impact are playing live on the MLS schedule and the game from Canada at the Stade Saputo in Quebec starts up at 8 pm ET for Week 20 and the matchup is a big one for both sides, as they each are trying to get into a groove in the second half of the season and Portland comes in after a win, while Montreal is trying to snap a losing streak.
The Impact have been struggling and they are the bottom team in the east, while the Timbers come in after a win and are looking to get back into the playoff mix during the second half. The Timbers won a week ago against the Colorado Rapids and that was 2-1 at home, which snapped a four game winless streak and now the Impact are in after losing four in a row. Montreal fell to Real Salt Lake last week and now they will try and stem the tide at home against the Timbers.
The teams have only played twice and the Impact has wins in both of those games and this will be the only times that the teams face this year on the schedule. The Impact won in Montreal back in 2012 and then won in Portland last year and now this game is back in Canada and this is a big one for both sides as they push into the second half of the schedule and the Impact are at the bottom of the east in 10th place with just 14 points from their 18 games played.
The Impact have now not won in four games and they went down against RSL quickly in their last match and they will try and avoid doing that again. Portland snapped their own streak after making a comeback against the Rapids and that was on Friday and they now are in seventh place in the west and looking to move up after getting 24 points from their 20 games played and they went down a goal in the 16th minute before making a late comeback to win against Colorado. The Timbers now have the chance to get a new streak going and they had nearly lost five in a row at home and this gives the team a chance to get a win on the road and a first for them against Montreal.
