The MLB Standings in the AL and NL for 2014 are tightening up and with about 60 games to go, the division leaders and wild card race has teams like the Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals in playoff position along with the Angels, Yankees, Dodgers and Braves.

The AL East has the Baltimore Orioles leading and now the Yankees and Blue Jays are playing a series and that means someone has to lose and the Yanks are just 2.5 games back now. The Rays have won eight in a row and are still alive in the division and wild card and Boston has continued to fade. The AL Central is basically the Detroit Tigers already, as they have the biggest lead of any division leader in baseball, with the Royals over six games back.

The AL West has the Oakland A's leading the Angels, while LA is closing and they are ahead of the Mariners, who are also in playoff contention. The NL East has the Washington Nationals in first over the Braves and that's their division race, while the Central is tight. The Brewers lead, but the Cardinals, Pirates and Reds are lurking. The Giants and the Dodgers are trading the lead in the west and they are up 11 games on the Padres.

The wild card in the American League is getting very tight for the second spot, as the Marines have fallen out for the time being and the Yankees are in behind the Angels. The Mariners and Blue Jays one game back and the Kansas City Royals are two back of the spot. There are a ton of teams still alive for the second spot, including the Cleveland Indians, Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago White Sox and the Rays have now won eight games in a row.

The National League race is more defined but just as exciting, as the Dodgers are in the first spot ahead of Atlanta, but they are close, while a group of teams are all within five games. The Dodgers and Giants have been trading back and forth in the division lead, while the Atlanta Braves and Nationals have been doing the same. The Central division has a number of teams there, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds, while the Miami Marlins are still sort of alive at five back.
