Crystal Palace and Columbus Crew are going at it on Wednesday night and the matchup is live from the CC Stadium in Ohio at 7:30 pm ET and the matchup is live online as the Premier League side and the Major League Soccer team face off in a friendly match and this is just getting to the start of the American tour for some EPL teams and this could be a good matchup.
Crystal Palace is coming in after a strong finish to the season in the Premier League and now they have the chance to open things up here as well and they are looking to keep things on the positive side. Palace ended the season with a minus 15 goal differential and they need to try and get that closer to zero or on the plus side this year if they went to move up into the higher half of the EPL table standings.
Crystal Palace is coming in for the 12th international friendly match for the Crew at the Stadium and the team has gone 10-5-2 over the years, but that is because most of the time the top players are not in for long for the English teams. Last year the team lost to Wigan Athletic and previously the team won over Leeds, lost to Newcastle United, won over Stoke City in 2012 and they lost to West Ham in 2008.
Columbus comes into the game in the MLS at number seven on the league table and they have 23 points in 20 games this season. The Crew are playing against Crystal Palace for the first time ever and the Eagles will be the 10th team to play against Columbus and this game is an important one even though it's a friendly, as both sides are looking to get their players up to speed heading into the rest of the summer. Columbus hosts Crystal Palace and then the team continues along with other opponents.
Crystal Palace also will play against the Philadelphia Union and that is in two days and will be at PPL Park. The team is coming to Columbus for the first time and Crystal Palace also will be playing the USL team in Richmond and that will be later in July as well. The team finished out the Premier League in 11th place and now they have the chance to get some good vibes coming in.
