The Minnesota Timberwolves are being very picky when it comes to a trade involving Kevin Love. The team is not willing to give up their franchise star for just any package of players and the Cleveland Cavaliers are learning that the hard way. So far Minnesota has rejected several trade offers from the Cavaliers, but LeBron James wants Love and what the King wants, the King gets. With Andrew Wiggins now available, what does that mean for the remaining players on the roster?
James wants Love at any price. Currently signed to a two-year contract, the Cavaliers need to please their franchise star now instead of later and that means making any move possible to get the forward. So far, Cleveland has offered up everyone from Anthony Bennett to Dion Waiters to Tristan Thompson and have gotten turned down. The Timberwolves want Wiggins and James is prepared to give them just that.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Cavaliers are now inclined to offer Wiggins in a trade for Love. James has reportedly reached out to Love about a possible trade and feels confident that the Cavaliers could easily re-sign the forward in 2015 when his contract expires. For most of the offseason, Wiggins has not been available. Cleveland had every opportunity to trade off the No. 1 pick and opted not to, convinced that Wiggins would be a franchise star. However, if getting Love means pleasing James than the Cavaliers will make the move.
The Cavaliers could easily deal Wiggins and possibly a draft pick and not have to give up anyone else in their starting rotation. James has previously stated his confidence in players like Waiters and Bennett. They were the main two pieces in the original package for Love. Instead, Cleveland could easily deal Wiggins with a first-round draft pick and possibly a marginal player. Giving up Bennett would not be a huge blow to the roster. He was not a starter last season and only managed 12.8 minutes per game. Waiters is the more valuable player and could be safe from trades.
James is doing plenty of recruiting as he tries to make Cleveland a championship team. He has already brought Mike Miller and James Jones to Cleveland after playing with both in Miami. Now he is trying to pull Ray Allen away from retirement to join the Cavaliers. Miller told media he has been in constant contact with Allen about possibly joining. If all works out, James could have the exact roster he has been wanting.
