The MLB All-Star Game 2014 is on schedule for next week and the starters in the American League and National League were released on Sunday night along with the AL and NL reserves for position players and pitchers and names like Derek Jeter, Jose Bautista, Giancarlo Stanton, Andrew McCutchen, Mike Trout, Josh Donaldson, Robinson Cano, Carlos Gomez and Yadier Molina are among the players voted in.

Derek Jeter is one of the controversial names in the mix, as his stats are obviously not All-Star worthy, but he is Derek Jeter so he will be the starter and he is a Hall of Fame player, so he gets a pass. The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the best teams in the league along with the Detroit Tigers and they have players in the mix, including Jose Bautista, Miguel Cabrera, Edwin Encarnacion and Victor Martinez. The Yankees have Jeter in as a shortstop and they also may get Masahiro Tanaka as the starter and he absolutely will be on the team.

Nelson Cruz and Adam Jones have played very well for the Baltimore Orioles and they are potential starters, while Robinson Cano and Felix Hernandez are locks for the Seattle Mariners and Kyle Seager should be in but probably won't make it. Matt Wieters is on the DL so he will not be able to play and Brian McCann may get in on name, but his season has been nothing to write home about this year.

Gomez and the Brewers have been excellent this season and they should get Aramis Ramirez and Jonathan Lucroy in, while Troy Tulowitzki and Paul Goldschmidt have earned their spots. Giancarlo Stanton and McCutchen have been very good as well and Yadier Molina once again is into the mix and there is also the final vote on both sides for the AL and NL. The American League side has nine players voted in as starters and the NL side has eight without the DH.

John Farrell has some tough decisions to make to add names to the AL roster, while Mike Matheny also has a big pool of players to choose from. Jose Altuve has had a very strong season and he is leading baseball in hits and other players having solid seasons include Ian Kinsler, Derek Norris, Adrian Beltre, Jose Abreu, Yasiel Puig, Charlie Blackmon, Hanley Ramirez and Freddie Freeman.
