The fight is for second place in Group A. Brazil is all-but guaranteed a spot in the next round while Croatia or Mexico could position themselves right behind them depending on the outcome. Croatia's offense hopes to still be in top form as Mexico's defense is prepared to step up to the challenge on Monday.

Croatia seems to have no issue scoring after their 4-0 performance against Cameroon. On paper they are the better team since they do have two of the best players in Rakitc Modric and Mario Mandzukic. The roster got a huge boost thanks to Mandzukic after his two-goal performance against Cameroon. He will lead a lineup that will not change considering how well it functioned last week. Luka Modric is has also done well running in tandem with Ivan Rakitic in the midfield.

Mexico has the edge over Croatia in the match. While they might not have scored against Brazil, they played excellent defense to hold on to a scoreless draw. That is the best the team could have hoped for. Their roster is relatively injury free which could put them in position for a second-place finish in the group. Defense has been Mexico's game. Their wing-backs held Cameroon while also successfully keeping Brazil silent. They will face the same test against Croatia who has the ability to be a high-scoring team.

Mexico's goalkeeper could be the x-factor in this game. 28-year-old Guillermo Ochoa has set the bar high for himself after shutting out Brazil last week. He has given Mexico the momentum despite coming in as the statistical underdog. Captain Rafael Marquez is another player expected to lead the team to this finish. Currently in his fourth World Cup, his veteran leadership has given Mexico the excellent organization it needed.

A lot is at stake for both Mexico and Croatia in their second match in Group A. If Croatia can get a win, they advance to the next round while Mexico needs a win and a Brazil slip up in order to survive another day in the World Cup. Both teams are riding high on confidence. Mexico is fresh off a solid match against Brazil as Croatia dominated Cameroon. Now they face off with plenty on the line.
