The match between these two teams is very important for Group G and Germany comes in as one of the favorites and they need to get off to a good start in this group. The Group G set is being called the Group of death and this will be a very hard group to get out of if teams lose in the first game and that makes this a very pressure packed situation for all four teams. The United States has no chance to get out of this group if they don't get points from this match and they will try their best to do so against Ghana, which is the team that knocked them out of the tournament the past two times at the World Cup.

Germany has a strong roster and they are playing their 100th game and are one of the best teams in the World Cup and with the German side coming in experienced, they will be looking to get out of this group. Mesut Ozil has the chance to make and impact and he will be important, while Portugal comes in with Ronaldo and he will need to be at the top of his game for his team to pull through. Portugal has the top player in the world and now he will try and match Lionel Messi after he scored for Argentina over the weekend and they are another very good team that should be able to make a deep run here.

The game is in Salvador and the fifth day of the tournament has Group G moving along and this matchup has two of the top four teams with Germany and Portugal and this was the same stadium where Spain and the Netherlands played and that was a throttling of the defending champions. Germany is a superpower and Ronaldo is a superstar and now they are going head to head.

The World Cup opened with a game between Brazil and Croatia and there was plenty of drama in that game, including a bad call on a flop that resulted in a penalty kick and now the Brazilian side is on top of their group heading into the next match. Neymar scored two goals and one was on the penalty kick and this call came after Croatia got an own goal against Brazil to give them a 1-0 lead and their coach was furious after the match and now Brazil leads group A with Mexico. The two leaders will play this week in the second game for the group and that will be a huge matchup overall for the World Cup this time around.
