The first match of the tournament saw Brazil win over Croatia in controversial fashion after a penalty was called and Neymar put that in the net for his second goal of the game and the home nation won that match 3-1. The team is at the top of Group A with Mexico, who won over Cameroon in Natal and that was a very wet and rainy and now Mexico has three points from their opening match.

Spain and the Netherlands was a rare matchup of a previous final in the group stage and the Dutch won big 5-1 after giving up an early goal and Robin Van Persie was fantastic and the team came out furious after the first half, scoring four goals to win 5-1. The first half saw two goals and then the Netherlands went off and Van Persie has an amazing header and he had two goals and Iker Casillas had a tough game and now Spain has to rebound quickly and it could be tough to get out of the group.

The 2014 World Cup has started and now and Brazil opened the tournament with a match against Croatia and now the group stage continues and there are a ton of intriguing matches heading through the weekend. England and Italy are playing the most anticipated match of the first few days in the Amazon, while the United States opens against Ghana, the team that beat them in each of the past two World Cup tournaments.

England and Italy is one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament and that will open the Arena Amazonia in Manaus and that will be an event after the construction of that stadium. Italy had a rough go of it in 2010 and the team finished last in their group and now they have to find a way to get points here and if not, it could be tough to advance. Both teams are talented and England of course is playing with the history of not winning or making the final since 1966 and they have a new generation of players coming in with Wayne Rooney leading.
