California Chrome, winner of the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, gallops during morning workouts at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York June 6, 2014. California Chrome will attempt to become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win racing's coveted triple crown when he competes in the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday. "

The Belmont Stakes 2014 is live on Sunday on NBC channel with a Triple Crown on the line in the 164th running of the race for California Chrome and the live stream coverage comes from the NBC Sports Live Extra website and starts up after 6 pm ET after the Kentucky Derby and Preakness wins and this could be the first time in decades that the feat is done and that is what the channel is hoping for when it comes to eyes on the TV.

The Belmont has a chance to be a historic race on Saturday and many will tune in to see Chrome in the second position and that is a lucky one for some horses, as multiple horses have won from that spot. No horse has won the Triple Crown in decades and Chrome is going for the first since Affirmed and Secretariat did it back in the day and he will be between Medal Count and Matterhorn and both of those horses are long shots, while Chrome comes in as the number one favorite. There are only two other horses with single digit odds and that makes this race even more exciting with the historic feat on the line.

Chrome comes into the race after winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness and he is on a streak of six races that he has won and now this is the most important one and could become the 12th horse to win the Triple Crown. USA Today writes that the weather is looking great for the race and that the track should be in optimum conditions for Chrome for the Triple Crown and he comes in as one of four California horses in the race and he is the fifth of those to win the Preakness and Derby and getting a good start will be important for him as he tries to complete the Triple Crown.

Trainer Art Sherman said that Chrome looked ready to go for the race and that the weather will be a big deal as well and he is looking to be the 12th horse ever to do it. Affirmed was the last horse to do it and now the race track in Elmont is under the spotlights for the night and NBC is hoping history is made. The one and a half mile track starts up with coverage before the race and the paddock walk starting up around 6:15 pm ET and that first jump will be a big deal for Chrome if he wants to win the race.
