May 30, 2014 02:49 PM EDT

England and Peru are playing a World Cup friendly international match on Friday and the game is streaming live at 3 pm ET and 8 pm local time from the Fox Soccer 2Go website and it comes live from Wembley Stadium as the Three Lions prepare for the Brazil tournament in 2014 and this is the first match for the team since playing Denmark back in March and Roy Hodgson is looking for his team to start off well.

England has not had much success in recent World Cups and now players like Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck along with Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge must step up, as the team has a tough draw and a hard schedule, but an impossible one like the USA team. Rooney is getting older and this likely is his last World Cup, while Sterling, Sturridge and Gerrard are all coming off strong years in the Premier League and would like to see that play continue into the tournament.

England had disappointing performances in both 2006 and 2010 and now the 2014 event is a big one for the future of the team, as many older players will be phased out next time and the young generation will be coming in and Rooney needs to cement his legacy here or forever be stuck with those losses. Hodgson has said that his team is preparing well and chances are he will use the starting lineup for the first game in this matchup and he is looking to see what else he has on the roster and that could mean some late subs in the game depending on the score.

England has expectations in this match because Peru is not even in the World Cup and this gives the team the chance to prepare and play a full match just weeks before the tournament begins. The first match of the tournament will be on June 12 and has Brazil taking on Croatia and that will kick things off for the 32 teams in the tournament. Rooney and Daniel Sturridge will have tons of pressure on them as they come nit things and Hodgson said that the two players will start meshing better once they get the chance to play more.

Rooney is of course the star of Manchester United, while Sturridge comes in after a great year at Liverpool and now both players are looking for some hardware after Man City won the Premier League title this year. Rooney had been dealing with a thigh injury over the final weeks of the EPL schedule and he appears to be back to full strength and Hodgson said that Rooney will be a centerpiece for the team and that they have a deep roster that could be very effective in 2014. Hodgson also said that the team is fully healthy coming into the game and with the opponent being Peru, he is looking for strong performances and he does not want his England team underestimating their opponent, as they will have Italy first before playing Uruguay and Costa Rica in their group.
