The French Open 2014 tennis tournament is live from Roland Garros for the finals and the final rounds heading into the weekend and the NBC and ESPN coverage is live streaming from the NBC Sports Live Extra and WatchESPN stream online from France as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal play on the men's side and Simona Halep and Maria Sharapova are into finals over Saturday and Sunday for the men and women.

The tournament has already seen a number of major upsets, including Serena Williams, Li Na, Stan Wawrinka and Venus Williams and now players like Nadal and Federer are continuing on into the draw. Nadal has continued his strong play at Roland Garros, improving to 61-1 at the tournament with his win in the second round and he is looking to win his ninth trophy. Nadal advanced after winning against Dominic Thiem from Australia and he did in straight sets on Thursday and is now through before Federer plays Dmitry Tursunov in the second round.

Nadal looked strong through the match and he was up 5-1 in the first set and he is starting to take form after losing in the finals of his last tournament to Djokovic before coming to Roland Garros. Nadal has only lost one time in his career at the French Open and that was five years ago and now he is looking to wrap up another major title and that would be another record. Nadal was good against the serve and he has the chance to move into the next round over the weekend. Theim played tough against Nadal, but the Spanish star simply was too good and now he advances once again.

Nadal was among a number of winners on the day with David Ferrer coming into the next round along with Andy Murray and this comes after Ferrer lost the final to Nadal last year. The hometown boy Richard Gasquet advanced as well in straight sets and and now some of those players could be dark horse options to make it to the finals. Djokovic has looked strong on clay this season and he will be in action on Thursday as well.

The women's side will have a new champion with Serena Williams gone after she was upset and now players like Sloane Stephens and Taylor Townsend represent the US women and they are through to the next round. Past French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova advanced along with Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic also went into the next round and she was shaky through the match was able to hold on and she had had trouble advancing in majors since winning one of her own.

Williams took some star power out of the tournament along with Na and Wawrinka and she vowed to make up for this loss next year and now she falls after winning the tournament last year. Williams has lost early at Roland Garros before and now she has done it again and it comes after her amazing year last year with the French and US Opens and she only lost four times last year and now she will be coming back after this loss with some determination after she simply just couldn't get it done.
