WWE: Rey Mysterio Returns, Big Push Awaits

His second World Title reign was ended by Kane at the 2010 Money in the Bank PPV. His brief WWE Title Reign in 2011 lasted only two hours."

Rey Mysterio will reportedly receive a push after all when he returns to action.  Mysterio's comeback from injury was delayed due to a violation of WWE's wellness program, and he was rumored to be heading towards a burial on the card when he resurfaced.

Mysterio is still a viable name for the company.  He connects with the youth demographics as well as the Hispanic fan base.  However, his recent lack of durability has made it hard for WWE to feature him in top feuds.  He has held the World Title twice and the WWE Championship once.  The WWE Title reign was incredibly brief, as he dropped the belt to John Cena two hours after being crowned.

WWE is currently in need of heel performers and there has been chatter over the past couple of years of experimenting with Mysterio as a villain.  It will be interesting to see if WWE goes in that direction in order to generate some summer buzz but that is unlikely.  WWE enjoys utilizing Rey as the epitome of an underdog and the Mexican superstar is likely bound to finish out his time with the company as a mid-card hero.

Likely feuds for Mysterio could include bouts with Sin Cara or Dolph Ziggler.  Ziggler is a top candidate to take the World Heavyweight Title when WWE decides to move it off of Sheamus but could use a feud against a popular face to continue his push in the meantime.

Mysterio is elligible to return on tonight's Raw but will likely be held out intil Smackdown or next week.  Chris Jericho is confirmed to return tonight as well.
