The Chicago White Sox are reaping the benefits of home field advantage during this recent stretch and it is helping them get past the New York Yankees, a team they were predicted to fall to. US Cellular Field is working out well and the White Sox are poised to win their ninth straight home game against the team on Saturday. Can the Yankees bounce back?
Chicago had some late-game heroics on Friday that got them the home win and their fourth victory in five games. Adam Dunn knocked out a two-run homer to give Chicago the win. The Yankees appear to hate playing in the Windy City. Their eight-game losing streak against the White Sox on the road is the longest against any opponent in the league. The last four games between the two teams at Cellular Field have been determined by just one run, frustrating the Yankees even more.
The bats were moving early on Friday between the two teams. Alexei Ramirez hit a two-run homer followed by Brian McCann's three-run home all in the first inning. Chicago will send John Danks to the mound in an effort to slow the Yankees down again. He is 3-4 with a 5.56 ERA, but has not faced New York since 2011 where he ha a 4.38 ERA. He is trying to avoid losing his third-straight game after giving up eight runs and 10 hits in four innings against Houston. In his last four starts, he has allowed seven home runs after giving up just one in his first five starts.
New York will trust Vidal Nuno who is making his first appearance against the White Sox after moving into the rotation from the bullpen. He is 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA in six starts. He gave up three runs in six innings against Pittsburgh in his last start.
