Dallas Cowboys Free Agent Rumors: Ryan Williams Option For Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts?

The Arizona Cardinals released running back Ryan Williams and now he is a free agent and after dealing with some injuries over the years he could be an option for teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts or Baltimore Ravens if they want to add depth at the position heading into training camp and the summer.

Williams was released this past week and he was not expecting the move, as ESPN.com reported he came in for treatment and to look over the playbook when he found out about the release. Williams has been dealing with injuries during his career and this comes after he was a second round pick for the team. The writing was on the wall over the past couple years, as the team drafted two backs last season with Stepfan Taylor Andre Ellington and now Bruce Arians is ready to move on.

Williams was injured again last season and was inactive in 16 games and missed the entire season and that came after he missed time as a rookie as well. Williams had a knee injury as a rookie and missed the entire season and he also was out for 11 games in 2012 with a shoulder injury and all those issues are the main reason why he is now gone. Williams had great potential coming out of Virginia Tech, but he has not been able to deliver on that promise and now he is a free agent. During his time with the Cardinals he played in just five games and started three, putting up 164 yards in 58 attempts, an average of 2.8 yards per carry and now he is on his way out. Williams also had seven catches for 44 yards in the NFL and this comes after being very productive in college and now he could be on the move to another team.

Teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts as well as the Baltimore Ravens and Jaguars could be interested as well after ranking in the bottom half of the league in rushing last season. According to ESPN.com, the move gives the Cardinals $1 million in salary, $1.057 million in cap space and they also have to deal with $535,000 and Williams should have seen things coming, as he was released and did not play at all last season even when Rashard Mendenhall was injured.

The Cardinals come into the season after being ranked 23rd in the league in rushing yards per game and they were first overall in rush defense. Williams did not factor into things last season and now it looks like Ellington will be the starter.
