May 08, 2014 11:47 AM EDT

The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians are playing on the MLB schedule on Thursday and the game is an early start at 12:05 pm ET and comes from Progressive Field and is streaming live from the MLB.com website and this AL Central matchup has two teams looking to get into the mix with the Detroit Tigers in the division in 2014 after slow starts.

Kevin Correia and Justin Masterson are going up against each other in the pitching matchup and the game comes as the Twins lost the matchup with Cleveland on Wednesday and now this is the series finale. The Twins come into the game at two under .500 and they are looking to win against the Indians before starting up a series with the Detroit Tigers and that will be on the road at Comerica Park and it will have Justin Verlander and Phil Hughes in the pitching matchup for the first game.

The Twins have played better than they did to start the season last year, but they are fourth in the central division and are 15-17 on the year as they try and win over the Indians. The team is ranked seventh in the league in runs scored and 21st in batting average and they are seventh and 21st in on base and slugging percentage in the early goings. The pitching has been the biggest issue and the team is ranked in the bottom half of the league in ERA, quality starts as well as WHIP and BAA this season.

The Indians comes into the game at fifth in the division and they have been off to a slow start since making the playoffs last year and they are looking to start heating up at the end of this series. The team opens a set with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday and the team has their best pitcher in Masterson on the mound and that gives them a chance to win another game after taking the matchup up Wednesday.

The Indians come into the game at 22nd in the league in runs scored and 26th in batting average and the teams are 19th in on base and 27th in slugging and they are trying to get the bats awake this season with May starting to push in. The pitching has been uneven and they are hoping to correct that, as the team is in the bottom half in ERA, quality starts and WHIP, while they are also 13th in BAA. The two teams are chasing the Tigers and the White Sox in the division along with the Royals and those teams have played well to start up the season.
