NY Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox Live Stream: Watch Online Streaming MLB Baseball Fenway Park Game

Apr 22, 2014 07:00 PM EDT

The NY Yankees and the Boston Red Sox are facing off at Fenway Park for the first time this season and the matchup starts at 7:10 pm ET and has New York looking to get back on track as the MLB baseball schedule picks up after an off day with Masahiro Tanaka on the mound against Jon Lester, while the Sawx are coming back after a Patriots Day game loss to the Orioles and the matchup will be on MLB Network and also streaming from the MLB.com website.

Jacoby Ellsbury is making his return to Fenway Park for the first time in a Yankees uniform and while he is expecting a loud welcome, he said that he loved his time in Boston and has no problems hearing what fans think. The pitching matchup is a great one for the first game of the series at Fenway, as prized offseason signing Masahiro Tanaka will make his first start in the rivalry and at Fenway and he will go up against the Sox ace in Lester, who has been solid this season while going 2-2, while Tanaka is 2-0 on the year to start off.

The Yankees won over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday and they continue their road trip with the Red Sox and this game comes as the Yanks are in first place in the division with an 11-8 record. Last season the Sox won the World Series and that is one reason why the Yankees went out and spent so much and one of those players they brought in was Ellsbury. So far the former Boston star has been as good as advertised and after winning two championships with the team he should get a nice ovation to start, then of course all bets are off.

The Yankees come into the game playing well offensively and while they are ranked 22nd in runs scored, they are fifth in batting average and ninth in slugging percentage to come into the top five and they are also 13th in base percentage. Losing Ivan Nova will be tough, as he tore his UCL and now will need Tommy John surgery, but the team has some other options in David Phelps and Vidal Nuno and now the other players in the rotation like Sabathia, Kuroda and Michael Pineda will have to step up and of course there is always a chance that the team pulls off a trade closer to the deadline if those other options fail.

The team is ranked 25th in ERA but that is most likely due to the 16 runs they gave up to the Rays and now they are 12th in quality starts and 13th in WHIP with a 16th ranked BAA early on in the year. The team is getting David Robertson back after a short DL stint and that should get the bullpen back in line after Shawn Kelley came in and handled things. The team now faces the Red Sox after they lost the Boston Marathon game against the orioles and that saw Clay Buchholz take the loss against Wei-Yin Chen and Tommy Hunter ended up with the save.
