The NHL playoffs standings has one team on the cusp of winning their first round matchup, as the Montreal Canadiens are up 3-0 on the Tampa Bay Lightning, while the NY Rangers are looking to take a 2-1 series lead against the Philadelphia Flyers as they play Game 3 on Tuesday night.

The Rangers looked very good in Game 1 and got multiple power play goals as well as a strong game from Henrik Lundqvist to go up 1-0 in the series, but they couldn't hold on for the Game 2 win. The team was up 2-0 in the matchup, but the Flyers were able to come back and now that kept the Rangers from winning a game 2 at home since back in the 90's and now they will try and take a lead in the series on Tuesday night when the two teams play in Philly.

The Rangers and the Flyers are playing in the playoffs for the first time since back in 1997 and that series was in the Eastern conference finals and NY lost that matchup. The team now hits the road and will be looking to get the win against the Flyers to go up in the first round series in the east. Montreal won the first two games on the road in Tampa and Carey Price has been playing lights out and now they have the chance to sweep. Montreal is the only team from Canada in the playoffs this season and that has many fans from North of the border cheering them on.

The Boston Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings is an Original Six series and it's tied at 1-1 as the first round now moves to Detroit. The Red Wings got the first win of the series, but the league-best Bruins bounced back and now they have the chance to win two in a row. The games on Monday saw the Penguins made yet another comeback against the Blue Jackets and now they are up 2-1 in the series.

The Minnesota Wild pulled out an overtime win at 1-0 after it was scoreless in regulation to stay alive, as the Avalanche were up 2-0 in that series before the win. The Dallas Stars were able to win over the Ducks for a 2-1 series, while the defending Stanley Cup champions are now down 2-1 after winning over the St. Louis Blues and now the Chicago Blackhawks must pull together to try and win Game 4 at home at the United Center and that game will be on Wednesday.
