Meb Keflezighi of the U.S. celebrates with his wife Yordanos Asgedom after winning the men's division at the 118th running of the Boston Marathon in Boston, Massachusetts April 21, 2014. "

The Boston Marathon in 2014 had American Meb Keflezighi as the winner and a live stream of the entire event can be watched on the main BAA website and comes as the 118th race was one of the most emotional and inspiring ever, as the participants and spectators remembered last year's tragedy with the bombing attack that killed three people and injured hundreds and the 26.2 miler race was run in the memory of those that were effected.

Check here for the main website for the Boston Marathon and for the race replay for the 2014 event.

The Boston Red Sox played their Patriots Day game on Monday as well and while they lost that game, the team came back to make it competitive with the Orioles and the race saw Keflezighi win. Keflezighi became the first American to win the race since 1983 and that punctuated the event after what happened last year and things were live on Monday from Universal Sports and UniversalSports.com and the coverage had starting line cameras and feeds on the finish line, which is of course where the bombs were placed last year.

The race went around to six different areas in Boston and ended near the Boston Public Library and security was at an all-time high this year after the bombing last year. The race had over 30,000 participants and thousands of police and plain clothes officers and it went on mostly without incident on Monday. On the women's die, Rita Jeptoo of Kenya defended her title after what happened last year and she set a course record and now she is the seventh three time winner of the event and she was able to break away from the pack towards the end.

Keflezighi was able to get off to a good start in Hopkinton and he ended up putting up a great time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, 37 seconds and he won it 11 seconds ahead of Kenya's Wilson Chebet. The race next year will continue to have plenty of meaning, but this one was extremely important for the people of Boston and anyone that ran last year and now the athletes can put this behind them for some time and get ready for next year when security surely will be the same.
