The Oakland Athletics and Minnesota Twins are playing live on the baseball schedule on Wednesday and the MLB matchup for the A's starts up at 1:10 pm ET and comes streaming live from the MLB.com website as the two teams face off at Target Field.

The matchup on the mound on Wednesday has Phil Hughes taking on Jesse Chavez for the A's and the Twins are hoping to string some good games together against a solid team in the A's, who come in second in the AL west behind the Mariners, yes the M's, and they are now 4-3 on the season and the Twins come into the game at 3-4, which is a better start than many expected over the first week of the season and they will have another disgraced NY starter next on Thursday, as Mike Pelfrey will get the ball on the mound for the team.

The A's come into the game after a win by Scott Kazmir over the Twins and now he is 2-0 early in the season and that is very promising for the team while they are 21st in the league in runs so far with 28 this season. The team is hitting .236 overall to start the season and they are 11th in on base and 15th in slugging percentage and the team is hoping to win out in the AL west again. The division appears to be wide open and anyone doubting the Mariners should take a look at how they have played over the first week, as they are now 5-2 and looking strong.

The Athletics have been the most consistent team in the division over the past couple years and they are the main target for the Rangers and Angels along with the Mariners as they all try and gain ground in the west. The A's pitching has been excellent so far and they are fourth in ERA and first in quality starts with six and they are also in the top 10 in BAA and WHIT through the first week. Hughes was roughed up in his opening game against the White Sox and he let two home runs go and now he gets the chance to start at home, while Chavez comes in after holding down the Mariners last week with two ruins and just five hits.

The Twins come in after the loss and they have been hitting well so far and they rank fifth in the league in runs and second in on base percentage and they are 16th in batting average so far as well. The pitching has been roughed up and that is why the team has four losses and they are last in the league in ERA so far this season.
