The NY Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays are playing on Saturday in Canada and New York comes in after getting a win with Masahiro Tanaka on the mound and now they play at 1:07 pm ET and the game is streaming live online from the MLB.com website and is from the Rogers Centre.
Tanaka got a win in his debut for the Yankees and now Michael Pineda will get the start and in a way for the Yanks, the start is as anticipated as the Japanese star, as Pineda has not thrown since 2012 and was traded in a move with the Mariners for Jesus Montero. The Yankees are looking like they easily got the best of the deal now that Pineda is set to pitch and he was very good with the Mariners and the team is hoping that he can be an anchor of the rotation. Pineda was very strong in the spring and that is one reason why he won the fifth rotation spot over David Phelps and now he has the chance to keep things going with his first start of the season.
The Yankees got the win on Friday and it included some interesting moments, including a challenge by Joe Girardi on a close play at first base with Ichiro Suzuki and that was overturned and allowed the Yankees to continue on and take the lead. The team now will be without Mark Teixeira for the immediate future and he was placed on the DL with a hamstring injury and that means Kelly Johnson will take over at first base now for the Yankees. Pineda is a tall dude with a big arm and he will go up against RA Dickey for the Blue Jays and the Yanks are hoping that Jacoby Ellsbury can keep things going after a hot game on Friday.
The Yankees will have CC Sabathia pitching in the series finale on Sunday and that will be an afternoon game and they are hoping that Pineda can keep up the hot start after Tanaka won. The Yankees have scored 14 runs in four games this season and they are in the top 12 in batting average early on and they are also 12th in on base percentage.
