The NY Mets have had a tough start to the season and they have already lost their first three games and now Chris Young has hit the DL with an injury and that could lead the team to explore a trade with Ichiro Suzuki as a possible option from the Yankees, while Ike Davis could be on his way out to the Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates or Baltimore Orioles after Lucas Duda was put at first base for the near future.

Davis has been mentioned in trade rumors since early in the offseason and while no trade went down, it still could be an option for the Mets now that Duda is getting an extended look at first base to start the season. According to ESPN.com, Young is now on the DL after having a hot spring training and that is the latest blow for the Mets, who started the season with three straight losses to the Washington Nationals and now the fans are already scrambling after the team signed Curtis Granderson and Bartolo Colon in the offseason. The reaction to the Daniel Murphy paternity time says it all, but the Mets now have a big hole with Young out and he hit .310 earlier in the spring and looked good after signing a one-year, $7.25 million deal in the winter, but now he is on the 15-day disabled list with a quadriceps injury.

The Mets now have to figure out their next move and one suggestion from Hardball Talk and Bleacher Report is Ichiro Suzuki from the NY Yankees. This season the Yankees have Ichiro as mostly a bench player and he is in that role for the first time in his career and it came after the Yanks signed Carlos Beltran and Jacoby Ellsbury in the offseason and that added to Brett Gardner and Alfonso Soriano as their outfielders. Suzuki spoke to the Star Ledger about his new role and said that it was "nothing" like he has experienced before and while he is ready to play and is preparing like usual, he knows that he will not be getting into many games.

That could lead to a potential split for the Yankees and Ichiro and moving him to a team like the Mets would enable him to remain in the city after signing a two years deal with the Yankees following his trade from Seattle. Ichiro put up his worst numbers last season batting average wise, but if the Yankees don't ask for too much they could work out a deal that is beneficial to both sides.

ESPN New York is reporting that Dude is now going to get a look at first base from manager Terry Collins and this comes as he is hitting .143 through three games this season. Duda is now 0-for-6 with a walk and three strikeouts after playing in the three games and if he starts hitting, Davis could finally be on his way out. The Mets have gone back and forth about what to do with Davis and right now he has three at-bats this season and if they find a deal with another team, they could pull the trigger, especially if Duda can be a more consistent option for the club.
