The United States World Cup schedule is one of the toughest of any team in Brazil 2014 and now the group is gearing up for the start of the event after playing their last friendly before rosters are selected and in the latest game against Mexico, young star Julian Green got his first action with the nation team and there is a chance that manager Jurgen Klinsmann will pick him for the squad.
Green joined the US team after playing with Bayern Munich and choosing the United States over Germany and now he could end up on the team for Brazil after playing against Mexico. According to ESPN.com, Klinsmann said that Green handled himself well in his first action on the pitch for the team and Stuart Holden added that he thought Green was aggressive in the draw against Mexico.
The US has the toughest draw of any team in the World Cup, as they are in a group with Germany, Ghana and Portugal and on top of that, the team has the longest travel schedule of anyone in the tournament. The United States had a 2-0 lead against Mexico in the first half on Wednesday before allowing two goals for the draw.
"I think it's exciting, but I think you also have to remember at the end of the day he's just 18 years old," Holden said. "I know he plays at one of the biggest clubs in the world, but no matter what, you're stepping into one of the biggest rivalries in soccer in coming into a U.S.-Mexico game and that's quite a big task."
