Oakland Raiders Rumors: Terrelle Pryor Traded to Buffalo Bills as EJ Manuel Backup? Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns Options if Quarterback Released

Terrelle Pryor's time in Oakland is over. The quarterback has been replaced by Matt Schaub after the team traded for the former Houston Texans starter. Now, Pryor would be left to compete with Matt McGloin for the primary backup job. Pryor wants to be a starter (like everyone else) and has requested an exit from Oakland. With a release more likely than a trade, where does the former Ohio State standout land?

The backup quarterback market is slowly starting to take shape with many teams having already landed their "guy". The Philadelphia Eagles appeared to be Pryor's best shot, but once Mark Sanchez became available, the market changed. The Eagles signed Sanchez to play backup after Michael Vick headed to the New York Jets. So, Pryor can also cross off the Jets as a potential suitor. The St. Louis Rams picked up former Detroit backup Shaun Hill, opting not to wait and see what could happen with Pryor.

At this point, the quarterback's best option could be the Buffalo Bills. According to head coach, the team is "all in" on second-year pro EJ Manuel despite his inconsistencies and multiple knee surgeries last year. However, adding Pryor would be a solid addition. The quarterback holds the same type of skill set that Manuel does and could easily step in without making the offensive plan change too much.

Marrone has expressed interest in adding another quarterback, but remained coy on whether or not it would be a veteran or a rookie. The team has Dennis Dixon on the roster, but he is expendable. Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel are not the quarterbacks to rest a franchise on in the wake of an injury.

Outside of the Bills, the obvious options are Jacksonville or Cleveland. The Browns have said they want to add two more quarterbacks to the roster along with Brian Hoyer. One of those spots will come by way of a first-round rookie. Pryor could easily fill the other spot and save Cleveland a draft pick. The Jaguars need all the quarterback help they can get. The team re-signed Chad Henne and traded away Blaine Gabbert. The team could bring on Pryor instead of risking their future in another rookie since Gabbert likely left a bad taste in their mouth.

No team will trade for Pryor. He simply is not valuable enough despite spending half the season as a starter for the Raiders. According to NFL.com, Oakland will release Pryor before the draft if no team makes a move on him. At this point, Pryor should prepare for free agency.
