Arsenal News: Gunners to Help Improve Beijing Educational System

Arsenal will be donating 300,000 pounds to the Beijing educational system this summer. "

According to SportsPro, Arsenal has decided to pledge 300,000 pounds to multiple charitable efforts throughout Beijing.  The projects are sponsored by the club's partner, Save the Children.

The charitable endeavors are expected to span over three years time and will be primarily focused on school aged children and their educational needs. 

"We are incredibly excited to be launching this new project which carries on our tradition of giving back to our community," said Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis while visiting the city.

Arsenal and Save the Children plan to cultivate and prepare over 200 new teachers.

In terms of on-field endeavors, the Gunners have been far from idle as of late.  Arsenal tabbed German forward, Luka Podolski for a reported fee of $17million.  Podolski is currently playing for Germany in the Euro 2012 tournament. 

Podolski is expected to join the Gunners in July and may make an appearance during the tour of Eastern Asia and Africa.
