The LA Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks are playing at the Sydney Cricket Ground in their second game on Sunday and after Clayton Kershaw won the first game, the team is matching up with Hyun-jin Ryu against Trevor Cahill and the game starts the MLB season and has Yasiel Puig in action against the Dbacks and the game is the first series of the season.
The MLB season started down under this season and Puig is coming back after a huge season last year and the Dodgers made it into the playoffs last season Clayton Kershaw comes into the season after winning the Cy Young last year and signing a mega deal. Last season Puig hit .319 with 19 homers and 42 RBIs in 104 games and now he could have the inside track to being one of the best players in the game this year and he went 0-4 and had two strikeouts against Cahill last season. Ryu started the season 12-3 with a 2.91 ERA in his first 23 major-league starts last season before faltering a bit and now the two teams are playing down under.
Kershaw pitched a great game to start the season and the team won 3-1 in the first game and each side had five hits and one error and now they are looking to go 2-0 to start the season. The players weren't happy to play down under and deal with all the travel, but it makes for an exciting start to the season and Adrian Gonzalez comes in after helping the team to win the NL West last season. Gonzalez hit .293 last season and had 22 home runs and 100 RBIs to lead the team and they have Kershaw coming back after an amazing year and he could end up winning another Cy Young this season. Kershaw pitched nearly seven innings in the game and the players have had a good time to start the year as well.
Even Vin Scully came down for the action and the team got their first win of the season after a Scott Van Slyke home run and Kershaw was very sharp and now he has the chance to start the actual Opening Day game for the Dodgers after playing here. Ryu will have friends and family in the stands, as the travel was not as bad as usual from Korea and the two teams are looking to start the season on a high note.
