New signing Lukas Podolski has said that he can't wait to get his Arsenal career started and hopes to impress fans at Euro 2012.

Podolski has been a part of an impressive German team, which have won their first two games against difficult opponents Portugal and Netherlands.

While the German forward has not been among the goals, he has already impressed down the left wing. Podolski's signing was confirmed at the end of April and will move to Arsenal for a reported fee of around $17 million from his hometown club Koln.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is at Euro 2012 as an expert for French television and watched Podolski and Germany play the Dutch on Wednesday. However, Podolski said he was not nervous and has nothing to prove to Wenger, while hoping the Arsenal fans could see what he was capable of.

"I don't think I have anything to prove to Arsene Wenger," Podolski told Goal.com.

"He has seen me play several times and knows what I can do.

"I think it is clear that my transfer was no accident and, of course, I'm very glad I signed with Arsenal.

"In fact, what has really pleased me is that Arsenal fans can watch me play in a tournament like this and realise what I'm capable of at the highest level. Very soon I will also show that in London."

Podolski, is of Polish descent, and said he already had a good friend at Arsenal in Wojciech Szczesny.

"We have exchanged text messages during the Euros to wish each other good luck," the 27-year-old revealed. "We have a very good relationship."

Podolski will link up with the Arsenal squad in July and might feature in the Gunners' overseas tour to Asia and Africa.
