Richie Incognito is a free agent after the Miami Dolphins let him go without a contract offer to re-sign him and now teams like the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and Jets could be potential fits after his issues with Jonathan Martin, who was traded from Miami to the San Francisco 49ers during the offseason.
Incognito has gone through a tumultuous few months and after damaging a car of his recently, he checked into a psychiatric care unit in Arizona and received treatment. Many around the league thought that Incognito would get a job sooner than Martin and clearly that has not happened after his deal to the Niners and now Incognito is the one looking for employment. It could be hard for Incognito to find a job after what happened here last season, but if he can show teams he is focused on football, he could be a valuable addition for teams in need to offensive line help.
The Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears could be potential options along with the Raiders and Detroit Lions after some free agent moves they made, but so far there has been no movement for Incognito. The Dolphins were ready to move on and they got rid of Martin quickly and let Incognito go and now they have a need at guard and at right tackle and this comes after the team signed Branden Albert to a large deal and Miami could also look towards the draft as an option for the offensive line as well. Mike Pouncey is still a viable option at center and while Nate Garner and Sam Brenner are on the roster, they could look to other options on the market as well.
The Dolphins added offensive lineman Shelley Smith on a two-year, $5.5 million deal and now the Fins could have a totally remade offensive line after what happened last season. The Dolphins allowed over 50 sacks last season and led the league in that category and the running game was a mess as well and one reason for that was the terrible offensive line. The team has the number 19 pick in the draft this year and that could find a solid lineman option, while Albert is a franchise left tackle.
Albert comes in after signing a five-year, $46 million contract and the move was expected after Miami was mentioned in trade rumors last year when he was with the Chiefs. Tyson Clabo and Bryant McKinnie are over 30 years old and the team wants to get younger and now they are adding one of the best tackles in the league. Albert is 29 years old and he is expected to help the Dolphins improve the running game and protecting quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
