Angry Birds, Eagles Form Partnership

Jun 13, 2012 05:14 PM EDT

The Philadelphia Eagles have teamed up with Rovio's Angry Birds as part of a marketing campaign heading into the 2012 season.

The campaign was announced via an animated promotional video that aired on the official Eagles website this afternoon.  The short clip featured a cartoon Andy Reid, holding a press conference to announce the "newest undrafted free agents" for the upcoming year.

The "players" were of course, the favorite playable characters from the Angry Birds franchise.

The birds commented that they chose the Eagles when entering the league because

"They are the birds and that they wanted to take (their) anger out on the pigs of the NFC East."

The end of the video featured a teaser and hinted that a new Angry Birds character is on the horizon and said "bird" will embody an Eagles theme.

The Eagles are rebounding from a disappointing 2011.  Expected to immediately compete for a Super Bowl title, a revamped and confident Eagles roster failed to make the playoffs.
