The NY Yankees and Detroit Tigers are starting off their spring training schedules in the Grapefruit League on Friday and now the MLB season is really starting to get closer and the team is coming off of a couple of games this week and now plays the Tigers before a matchup with the Phillies and Derek Jeter has already made his spring debut.
The Yankees are coming into the season with some high expectations after spending over $400 million this winter and after losing Robinson Cano, they have to show to fans that they are better off without him. The team signed Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann, Masahiro Tanaka and Jacoby Ellsbury and that came after the team missed the playoffs last season with Derek Jeter hurt, but now he is back and healthy and the rest of the roster is looking for a bounce back with all the new blood coming.
The Yankees started off the spring with back to back losses to the Pirates, but wins and losses are no big deal here in Florida, what is more important was that Jeter was healthy and made it through his first game and while he was 0-2, that didn't matter. Jeter showed that he is back from his ankle injury and in his last season, it will be imperative that he stays healthy for the Yankees.
Jeter played in just 17 games last season and that came after his broken ankle in the postseason before that and now he is ready to get things going again, as this will be his final season in baseball. Jeter and the Yankees have even more expectations after that announcement and now Tanaka is getting ready to make his Yankees debut this weekend.
