The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of another disappointing season without the playoffs and as free agency gets closer, some names that could be in the mix for the team include Henry Melton and Justin Tuck, while owner Jerry Jones has hinted that DeMarcus Ware could get released as a cap casualty.

According to ESPN.com, Melton could be an option for the team in free agency, as the soon to be free agent previously worked with coach Rod Marinelli and thrived under him. The report says that Melton was excellent during Marinelli's time with the Chicago Bears from 2010 to 2012, as the lineman had 15.5 sacks and also made it to the Pro Bowl one year.

Melton was out nearly all last season after injuring his ACL and that tear put him on the sidelines heading into free agency and he will be one of the top names at his position. Melton played in just three games before getting injured and the team could chase him depending on what they want to do with Ware and Anthony Spencer. The Cowboys are in a tight cap situation and they have players like Ernie Sims hitting free agency and he comes in after playing 12 games last season due to all the injuries suffered by Justin Durant and Sean Lee and he will be an unrestricted free agent.

The team also had Jason Hatcher a free agent and that could lead to Melton, as he could cost too much to keep and he is coming in after putting up 11 sacks last season and that is a career high. Hatcher could cash in this offseason and after Cliff Avril's deal with the Seahawks he could be in high demand. Ware could be done with the team since he is making $12.25 million in 2014 and will be a $16 million cap hit and that could be too much for the team to deal with. The team could try and restructure, but if Ware doesn't want to do that, he could be cut.
