The NY Giants are coming into the draft knowing that Hakeem Nicks is heading into free agency and that means Mike Evans could be the draft pick if he is available, while CJ Mosley, Justin Gilbert, Jace Amaro and Eric Ebron could be targets heading into the big day with the combine going down this weekend.

The Giants have a number of areas where they need to shore things up and one of those is at linebacker and that puts Mosley in the mix, but the team also could go after Evans, as they brought in a new offensive coordinator in Ben McAdoo and he could use some more weapons. Nicks was banged up over the past two years and has not been the same receiver and now that he is set to hit the free agent market, he could be too high of a price to retain, especially with Justin Tuck also hitting the market.

The Giants have Victor Cruz locked up and while Nicks is a great receiver, they like what they have in Rueben Randle and now adding someone like Evans could transform the offense. The Giants need more offense after the way they played last season and with David Wilson coming back from an injury and Andre Brown a free agent, the passing game has to get back to where it was and so does Eli Manning after the season he had last year. Adding Evans would bring another explosive option to the offense and it could open things up for both Manning and Cruz heading into next season.

Evans could be a nice replacement for Nicks at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds and he could be another first round WR option like Nicks was back in 2009. The team picked Randle with a second rounder and Evans likely will be gone past the top 15 picks, so if he is available, the Giants should snag him. At tight end, Jace Amaro or Eric Ebron could be options, as both players are explosive and it would address a huge need for the team as well.
