Aaron Hernandez (R) chats with his lawyer Charles Rankin as he appears for a pre-trial hearing at Bristol County Superior Court in Fall River, Massachusetts February 7, 2014. A Massachusetts judge on Friday denied a request by prosecutors for recordings of phone calls made from prison by the former National Football League star, who is awaiting trial in a 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd."

Aaron Hernandez remains in jail as he awaits trial on the charge of first degree murder and this comes after lawyers tried to get his jailhouse phone calls that likely included his girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins and now the judge has ruled on a gag order for the case.

According to ESPN.com, Judge Susan Garsh ruled last week that the prosecution did not violate any issues of ethics with the way they handled some things, but she still decided to rule in favor of a formal gag order for the trial. Lawyers argued that Hernandez was not being given a fair trial based on leaks and other issues, including serving Mike Pouncey with a subpoena after a game in what they called a "publicity stunt". Hernandez's fiancé still faces jail time in the case for possible perjury charges.

From earlier this year, the Tebow and Aaron Hernandez relationship detailed in an SI article:

Tim Tebow and Aaron Hernandez are connected in a number of ways and the biggest is obviously the fact that the two stars played at the University of Florida and during that time the tight end was involved in a bar fight incident and the quarterback was with him that night and that story was detailed a bit in a new article and profile of Tebow from Sports Illustrated on SI.com title "The Book of Tebow."

The part in the article about Hernandez and Tebow is Part III of the longform piece and comes after part of it also looked at the time period when Cam Newton was at Florida with Tebow. Many forget that the two quarterbacks were at the school for a short time and the article details that time and describes it in an interesting way, since it looks back and wonders whether Newton was the better player. Tebow was coming off of a Heisman win and multiple awards and Newton came in young and impressive, but the article describes the competition as Newton never having a chance with Urban Meyer, who loved the toughness and hardworking quality of Tebow.

The article also goes over the time Hernandez spent at Florida and mentioned a number of incidents, including a shooting that he may have been linked to as well as an early incident at a bar that Tebow was present for. Tebow was the first witness in the police report for this event according to the article, which has been reported on and was mentioned after Hernandez was arrested for murder. The original incident happened in April of 2007, before Tebow had ever started for the Gators and it went down at a popular bar/restaurant called The Swamp and involved Hernandez getting into it with the manager there.

To make a sort of long story short, Hernandez had a couple drinks, underage of course, he was 17 at the time and Tebow was 19, claimed he never ordered them and were given them, got into it with the manager and hit the guy in the head with his fist. The hit obviously punctured an eardrum and after Tebow called coach Urban Meyer and for the Gators staff involved, things got figured out. But there was a police report for battery and while the man did not pursue charges, it is interesting to note that these were players Meyer recruited, as the article shows justice was meted out unfairly for Meyer players and former coach Ron Zook's players. The article is an interesting read and so are the parts involving Hernandez.
