The Houston Rockets have been "actively shopping" Jeremy Lin since the offseason and have yet to actually formalize a deal. The point guard is playing well this year, but his contract makes any trade difficult to execute. As the trade deadline quickly approaching, the team is trying to trade Lin to any team remotely interested in a shooter.

According to NBA Insider Marc Spears, the Houston Rockets are contacting every team in hopes someone bites on Lin in the next 48 hours. The team has tried the same method with center Omer Asik and nothing happened, but several teams are trying to acquire help at the point guard or guard position and Lin could be their fallback plan. Spears notes that the Rockets are aware Lin's contract poses a big problem in any potential deal and might be willing to lower their asking price if necessary.

Lin has one year remaining on the three-year contract he signed with the Rockets. With plenty of money left to be paid, most teams are not looking to take him on, setting their sights on players with expiring deals. However, not every team can sign Rajon Rondo so if they are desperate, Lin is the best available.

Could a return to the New York Knicks happen? The Knicks have been searching for a shooter for the past few weeks. With Raymond Felton struggling all season, New York needs help now. The team has expressed interest in Kyle Lowry, but the Toronto Raptors are asking for too much in return. Recently, ESPN reported the Knicks were looking to trade for Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague. He would come at an even larger price considering the Hawks just signed Teague to a new contract extension in the offseason. Every player would kill the Knicks' salary cap situation. While Lin will do the same, the Knicks might not have to give up as much to get him.

The Brooklyn Nets could also be an option for a trade for Lin. ESPNNewYork.com reports the team is considering trading Jason Terry to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jarrett Jack. Cleveland wants to be active in the trade deadline, but is targeting draft picks in return. The Rockets would likely love to take on Terry, a player that has seen his ups and downs but is comfortable on the bench. Lin would certainly help the Nets, especially with Deron Williams in and out of the lineup with ankle injuries.

The Washington Wizards and Minnesota Timberwolves are also searching for shooting help and could make a run at Lin if the both teams grow desperate enough. The Rockets are ready to trade Lin and will listen to any offer that comes his way.
