Sweden and Latvia are playing live on Saturday on the Olympics men's hockey schedule and the game for the early tournament round will be streaming online from NBC and the match will be on the USA Network and the stream will be from the NBCOlympics.com website and the game comes after the Riussa and US game was intense and exciting in a shootout that the United States won.
The group play for the preliminary round is heating up and there are a handful of games left on the schedule and the Sunday matchups look good, including the United States playing Slovenia and Sweden also has another tough game against Latvia on Saturday, while Finland is playing against Canada and that game will be at 12 pm noon on the USA Network. The Russian team and the United States went to a shootout and it lasted eight rounds and Jonathan Quick was able to get the team through their second game and now they have Slovenia coming up next and Quick also was part of a possible game winning goal play, but the goal came off and it was disallowed.
The United States got a much needed win and now they put themselves in position to get into the next round with a bye and the 12 teams all will advance and the four top teams will get through with a bye and then the playoff round continues after the qualification round. The playoff quarterfinals round comes on Wednesday and all four of those games will be on TV and comes after the four qualifying games on Tuesday and that leads into the gold medal game on Sunday and the bronze on Sunday.
Erik Karlsson had a great start with two goals in his first game and Henrik Lundqvist showed why the team has previously won a gold medal and he made 27 saves on the day in the first game and the team is looking strong once again and they didn't even play with Johan Franzen or Henrik Sedin in the forst game and now they have Latvia.
