The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently on the outside looking in at the playoffs and heading into the trading deadline the team could make some moves to try and put themselves in position to make a run and names like Jimmer Fredette, Jodie Meeks, Steve Novak, Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner could be involved to give Kevin Love some support.

The Timberwolves dealt with numerous injuries last season and missed the playoffs and coming into the 2013-14 season, the team was expecting to contend for a spot in the west, but right now they are not in the top eight seeds. The team has the Nuggets and Grizzlies ahead of them and the Pelicans just behind and while the west is deep and much more talented than the east, that doesn't mean the Wolves can't sneak into one of the bottom spots if they pull off a trade.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Timberwolves could be in line to make a move if things don't improve significantly over the next two weeks, as they want to ensure a decent run over the next two years before Kevin Love can opt out as a free agent. The Timberwolves are terrified that he will leave for a team like the Lakers or the Knicks and adding a name or two here at the deadline could at least put the team in better position to try and convince him to stay.

The team has gone 4-6 over their last 10 and now they have the chance to try and work things out heading into the deadline. The team does not have much room in the salary cap and that means they will have to give up a bit if they want to make a deal, but getting someone like Fredette could be a good option and Turner as well since both have expiring contracts. The two players could fit into the offense well and while Fredette has not done much with the Kings, he has not had the chance and a chance of scenery could be huge for him. The team is not shooting well overall and they rank in the bottom half of the league in field goal percentage and adding someone like Fredette could help that immensely. Fredette isn't the best defensive player on the floor when he plays, but he can hit threes and is shooting over 40 percent on the season and that would be an improvement for some on the Wolves.

Jodie Meeks and Steve Novak could help as well and bringing in a player like Hawes could help take pressure off of Love. The Sixers could be a team to deal with, as they are in rebuilding mode and could deal Hawes, Turner or Thaddeus Young at the deadline.
