The NBC Olympics website has a live stream online for every Sochi Winter Games event and on Thursday the first primetime presentation comes on TV and the snowboard slopestyle, figure skating team programs and the freestyle skiing gets the first go around even before the opening ceremonies on Friday and they will be airing in primetime starting up at 8 pm ET on NBC.

The events on Thursday were the first of the Olympics and had snowboarding slopestyle competitions for the first time ever and the men's qualifications will start up at 8 pm along with the rest of the coverage that is tape delayed from the events of the day. The schedule of events had the men's downhill training for Alpine skiing next and then was the women for their slopestyle qualifications and that is now looking like one of the most exciting events of the games.

The women had skiing mogul qualifications on Thursday as well, while figure skating took center stage and for the first time the Olympics has a team competition and the coverage has the team men's short program along with the pairs short program to start things off. Mark McMorris comes in as the top name in slopestyle after American star Shaun White pulled out to focus on the halfpipe and now the qualifications are coming in before the semifinals and finals, which will be on the same day over the weekend. McMorris dealt with a broken rib at the X Games in Aspen and he said he is healing up and is feeling much better.

White took some flak for pulling out after many called him scared for saying the mountain course was intimidating, but after falling during a practice run, the star said he did not want to run the risk of getting hurt again before the halfpipe. White has won the event two years in a row and is looking for a third straight gold medal and he is the favorite in the event and pulling out of the slope also gives him a chance to fully heal, as he is dealing with shoulder and ankle injuries heading into the games on top of the wrist he hurt this week in practice.

Max Parrot started off well for Canada in his qualifying, coming in first in heat two and McMorris, the favorite for the event, got off to a slow start while placing in seventh and he was down there due to the fact that he fell at the start of his run, but he did much better on the second time around to put himself in at seventh. McMorris said next time around he will be more aware of the front end after falling on a rough patch of snow and he said his injuries felt fine and that he was good riding down the course. White is one of the most popular athletes in the games in Sochi and while everything has been a disaster with the planning so far, the athletes are excited to compete and the snowboard halfpipe should be one of the best events of the games and so will the figure skating competition.
