Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic Advance to French Open Final

Rafael Nadal continued his dominance on clay while Novak Djokovic had a surprisingly comfortable victory over Roger Federer as the two top seeds on the men's sides advanced to the finals of the French Open.

Nadal, a master on clay surface, defeated David Ferrer in a rather uncompetitive match, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1. In fact, Nadal called it his best performance at the tournament so far even as he has dominated the competition from the start. He has yet to drop a set and has lost just 35 games in six matches. But his success has not taken away from his focus.

"I really don't like to talk about perfection because, in my opinion, that doesn't exist," Nadal said. "You can always play better. But for sure, I'm very happy with how I'm playing."

The other semifinal pitted Djokovic against No. 3 Federer. Expected to be a close match, Federer had a difficult time dealing with rainy, windy conditions as he lost in straight sets. He committed 46 unforced errors to Djokovic's 17.

Now Djokovic and Nadal will face off in the second consecutive Grand Slam final. In the Australian Open, Djokovic defeated Nadal in a five-set, six-hour final. Either way, history will be made on Sunday: Nadal will win his seventh French Open to break the record he now shares with Bjorn Borg, or Djokovic will become the first man in 43 years to win four straight Grand Slam tournaments.
