Richard Sherman vs. Peyton Manning: Seattle Seahawks Cornerback Praises Broncos QB as Legend, Wes Welker Seeks Super Bowl Redemption Against Top Defense

Richard Sherman is about to get plenty of opportunities to prove he is the best cornerback in the game as he prepares to face the best quarterback, Peyton Manning. As the Denver Broncos wide receiving corps prepares for a physical game after the Seattle secondary, Sherman is not hiding the fact that Manning will challenge him for four quarters.

Sherman told reporters during Super Bowl Media Day that he is not putting any extra preparation into trying to figure out what makes Manning such a great quarterback. While he might have called wide receiver Michael Crabtree mediocre, Sherman is thinking the exact opposite in regards to Manning.

"His numbers speak for themselves," Sherman said, via NFL.com. "He's a living legend. He's been a living legend for years."

Sherman is not combing through extra hours of game footage trying to figure out what makes Manning tick. The cornerback noted that the Denver quarterback is simply going to make some plays on him and how he responds will determine the outcome of the game.

"If you pull your hair out over every play he makes, you have a long day ahead of you," Sherman said. "Any time you get mad about things like that or get angry, it'll be hard for you to consistently play well. So our defense has to be consistently patient to overcome adversity, and we've done that all season. We don't vary or disguise coverage on anybody. We play a pretty simple defense; for the most part you know what we are going to do every play. And you got to line up and play it and I think that is how we have been all season."

The Broncos wide receiving corps has been one of the best units all season and they are excited to face the top secondary in the NFL. Looking for a bit of Super Bowl redemption, Wes Welker is looking forward to his time going up against Sherman. Welker told reporters he is hoping for a few one-on-one matchups with Sherman.

"It's what we look forward to, No. 1 offense versus No. 1 defense," Welker said.  "(There are) a lot of great players on that defensive unit of the Seahawks. I mean, they got a lot of guys that fly around to the football, so it's going to be a good matchup for us."

While not much is being made of the Seattle offense versus the Denver defense, the reverse is getting all of the hype. Manning has been operating pick-your-poison system masterfully all season and Sherman is looking forward to testing that method on Sunday.
