Tim Tebow is an NFL free agent and a recent hire for ESPN and it's possible that without the quarterback, the Denver Broncos may not be in Super Bowl XLVIII, as he was the man who was under center before the team decided to sign Peyton Manning and now two years later Tebow is on television and Manning is heading to MetLife Stadium to play against the Seattle Seahawks.

In an interview with CBS this month, former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum admitted that it was a "mistake" to trade for Tebow from the Broncos, but that move helped set off a chain of events that has led up to Super Bowl XLVIII this season. Tebow was drafted the previous year in the first round by Josh McDaniels and by the next year John Elway and John Fox were running things and after a bad start from Kyle Orton, the team switched to Tebow and immediately saw results in the win column if not in the stat sheet.

Tebow took over the starting job from Orton and led the team to the playoffs and a stunning victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but after that things turned off. Fox and Elway had to shape the offense around Tebow and things were limited at best and so the team took a chance where it could and traded away Tebow to the Jets and signed Peyton Manning to be their quarterback. All the Tebow lovers couldn't fault the team for signing a future Hall of Fame player in favor of Tebow, no matter how crazy their religious fervor was for him and now they are in the Super Bowl.

Tebow is now employed by ESPN for the SEC Network and he has said that he plans on pursuing his NFL career while he works on TV and this comes after his time with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots after his time with the Denver Broncos. Tebow ended up with just six passes completed for 39 passing yards and 102 rushing yards with the Jets and he never got into the endzone and now he is hoping to catch on as a backup one day as he works in television on the SEC Network equivalent of College GameDay.
