Adrian Peterson Trade Rumors: Dallas Cowboys Best Option With Miami Dolphins For Minnesota Vikings RB After Mike Zimmer Hired?

Adrian Peterson trade rumors are bound to start again this offseason after the hiring of Mike Zimmer for the fires Leslie Frazier and with the star Minnesota Vikings running back possibly undergoing groin surgery, reports about the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins being interested will come up again.

The trade rumor involving Peterson from earlier in the season weren't truly serious, but with the way the Vikings played and the uncertainty surrounding the franchise at the time spurred the talk and a team like the Dallas Cowboys with Jerry Jones looked like the perfect fit. According to ESPN.com, Peterson now may undergo groin surgery this offseason after sustaining injuries this year and he will visit with doctors this week to determine whether surgery is needed or not.

Peterson did not have as great a season as in 2012 last year, but he still rushed for over 1,266 yards and 10 scores and was chosen for the Pro Bowl, although he will miss it. Peterson missed two games this season and that came after he rushed for over 2,000 yards last year with 12 touchdowns while winning an MVP award. The trade rumors this season were really sparked by the bad play on the team and the uncertain future at head coach and quarterback, but now that one of those is clear, things could change.

The Vikings never appeared to be realistically willing to trade Peterson, but as the star gets older and deals with injuries, perhaps it would be in the best interests of the franchise to start rebuilding now before their new stadium is built. The Vikes hired Zimmer from the Cincinnati Bengals and he is a defensive minded coach and while he brought in Norv Turner to run the offense, the team will be playing outdoors for two years as their new facility is built. The team is in tough position with their quarterback in Christian Ponder and many speculate that they will draft another young star this coming April.

The Vikings went just 5-10-1 on the season and they looked lost on the offensive side of the ball and now they must try and recover next season with Zimmer at the helm. Zimmer comes in with years of NFL coaching experience and while Peterson was upset that Leslie Frazier got fired, the running back is a good soldier and he will go along with what the team decides to do. Peterson has some uncertainty ahead health wise, but he feels ready to get back into action next season and he will try once again to reach that mark of 2,000 yards, it just depends on what jersey he will be wearing.
